Jean de La Fontaine (Illustrations de Jean-Baptiste Oudry) - Jean de La Fontaine - Fables (Ill. Oudry) - 1969 - Jean de Bonnot - 1969

This set gathers four volumes of Fables and the first volume of Tales by Jean de La Fontaine, published in 1969 by the Parisian house Jean de Bonnot. The main interest of this publication lies in the reproduction of the famous copper engravings after designs by Jean-Baptiste Oudry, originally issued in the prestigious Desaint et Saillant edition from 1755–1759. The volumes showcase the characteristic binding work of Jean de Bonnot: genuine leather stamped with intricate motifs (coats of arms, animal scenes, foliate scrolls) and enhanced with gilding. It is a beautiful, well-preserved copy, making a worthwhile acquisition for a collector seeking to combine a classic text of French literature with a decorative binding of fine workmanship.
