Description from the seller
W for Wesselmann — The Artphabet
Edition 5/10 — 60 x 60 cm
This work is part of The Artphabet, an art project developed by digital artist Cess, where each letter of the alphabet pays homage to great figures of contemporary art.
The piece interprets the letter W as a direct wink to Tom Wesselmann’s visual universe, one of the leading exponents of Pop Art. The composition centers on voluminous, sensual lips, iconic within his oeuvre, reinterpreted here in a three-dimensional, polished, contemporary key.
The intensely red lips, slightly ajar, become the central element of the piece, evoking the direct, provocative, erotically charged visual language characteristic of Wesselmann. The inclusion of lit cigarettes introduces a visual narrative that harkens to pop culture, consumption, and the representation of desire in modern society.
The treatment of the forms is clean and robust, with smooth, glossy surfaces that reinforce the advertising and object-leaning aesthetics of Pop Art. The minimalist composition on a neutral background allows the piece to stand out powerfully, focusing attention on the contrast between color, form, and meaning.
Rendered entirely in 3D (CGI), the work has been modeled and rendered with a sculptural approach, where every element — from the curve of the lips to the texture of the cigarettes — has been carefully crafted to achieve a striking and contemporary visual presence.
The Artphabet has achieved notable international diffusion, being published in numerous art, design, and visual culture outlets, establishing itself as a distinguished series within current digital art.
Cess is an artist specializing in digital art, CGI, and artificial intelligence, with a solid track record and collaborations with international brands such as Apple, Google, Prada, Vogue, and MTV.
The work is presented in high-quality Giclée print on poly/cotton canvas, ensuring a faithful reproduction of the color, volumes, and nuances of the original digital work.
