Bust of the Most Holy Christ of Limpias - Wood paste, glass eyes and original halo - "El Arte Cristiano" Olot, c. 1940 - 1950
Magnificent desk bust representing the Most Holy Christ of Limpias, a piece of great devotional and artistic strength produced in the workshops of the prestigious and world-renowned religious imagery school "El Arte Cristiano" of Olot.
The sculpture is made using the traditional wood paste technique (Olot paste) on a solid truncated-conical base decorated to imitate marble, with the front cartouche in relief reading "Stmo. Cristo de Limpias". On the back of the piece the original embossed workshop seal is clearly visible (die or stamping by die or punch) guaranteeing its authenticity and origin.

Eyes and expression: It features expressive blown glass eyes that provide a startling three-dimensional realism and great soulful depth to the supplicating gaze of the Lord.
Original accessories: It preserves its original metallic halo with stars, a highly fragile element that is rarely found intact in pieces from this period.
Polychromy and patina: Hand-painted and gilted with the classic Catalan workshop color palette, showing the wounds and drops of blood with very characteristic realism. It bears a beautiful original patina the result of the passage of time.
