Description from the seller
Inès Rouissi
Dark Bloom, 2023
Unique original 3D sculptural painting
Acrylic, pigments, three-dimensional relief and protective varnish on premium European canvas
50 × 50 × 3 cm
About the artwork
From the depths of night, something begins to bloom.
Dark Bloom by Inès Rouissi is a powerful sculptural composition in which crystalline forms, geometric structures and feather-like elements emerge from an intense black ground. Deep indigo, violet, silver, blue and flashes of raw magenta converge at the centre before expanding outward in a controlled and hypnotic rhythm.
The artwork evokes a mysterious flower opening in darkness, a cosmic mandala or an unknown mineral organism captured at the moment of transformation. Its balanced structure creates visual stability, while the layered three-dimensional relief introduces tension, movement and genuine physical depth.
This is not a flat decorative image. It is an original sculptural painting created entirely by hand over several days. Successive layers of acrylic, pigments and relief material form a complex architectural surface. Every raised element is individually shaped and integrated into the composition.
The contrast between the matte black background, luminous pigments and selected varnished areas allows the artwork to interact continuously with its surroundings. As the light changes, physical shadows move across the surface and reveal new details.
Light, depth and movement
The raised structures cast real shadows that evolve throughout the day. Under natural light, the silver and blue details emerge delicately from the dark background. Under warm evening lighting, the violet and magenta elements become deeper and more intense.
As the viewer changes position, different forms become visible. Some resemble crystalline petals, while others suggest feathers, folded metal or fragments of imaginary architecture.
Dark Bloom cannot be fully captured in a photograph. Its physical depth, changing shadows and sculptural presence are most powerful when experienced in person.
The artwork is entirely handmade. It is not a print, reproduction or edition. Its relief structures, colour transitions and material interactions are unique and cannot be reproduced.
Artistic concept
Dark Bloom explores the idea of growth emerging from obscurity.
The deep black background represents silence, mystery and the invisible space from which transformation begins. At the centre, crystalline forms gather and expand like a rare flower opening during the night.
The composition balances darkness and illumination, fragility and strength, natural growth and geometric construction, intuition and precision, stillness and expansion.
The feather-like outer elements introduce softness and movement, while the central geometric structures provide order and architectural tension. Violet and magenta bring emotional energy. Silver and blue introduce light, clarity and depth.
The result is an artwork that appears simultaneously botanical, mineral, architectural and cosmic.
Technique and materials
Inès Rouissi constructs the composition progressively through multiple layers.
Acrylic paint and professional pigments establish the chromatic foundation. Three-dimensional relief materials are then applied and shaped by hand to create the raised geometric and organic structures.
Selected areas are finished with a professional protective varnish. This finish reinforces the colours, supports the long-term preservation of the surface and provides enhanced resistance to ultraviolet light and normal variations in indoor humidity.
The artwork should nevertheless be displayed according to professional conservation standards, away from prolonged direct sunlight, excessive moisture and direct contact with water.
The creative process requires precision, patience and careful control of each application and drying stage. Every relief element is individually formed and permanently incorporated into the overall composition.

About the artist
Inès Rouissi, born in 1977, is a Mediterranean contemporary artist and researcher whose practice combines artistic intuition, material experimentation and analytical precision.
Her work explores the relationships between light, structure, texture and spatial perception. Inspired by Mediterranean landscapes, natural formations and architectural balance, she creates immersive compositions that evolve according to their environment.
Her multidisciplinary approach combines acrylic painting, professional pigments and sculptural relief. Each artwork is conceived as a living structure rather than a static surface.
In Dark Bloom, this approach reaches a particularly intense expression. The composition develops from its centre like an organism, a flower or an expanding architectural form.
Inès Rouissi is represented by Abstract Art Gallery, Riga.
Provenance
The artwork comes directly from Inès Rouissi’s studio and is presented by Abstract Art Gallery in Riga, Latvia.
