Old carbide/acetylene bicycle lamp made in Germany by Herm. Riemann, model “Favorit”, at Chemnitz-Gablenz.

The original plaque is still present and clearly bears the inscription:
“HERM. RIEMANN’S – FAVORIT – CHEMNITZ-GABLENZ”
This lamp dates from the early 20th century, probably around 1900–1920, a period during which acetylene lamps were commonly used for bicycle lighting before the spread of electric lighting.
Very beautiful model featuring a large circular reflector and a convex glass, with its cylindrical reservoir and mounting mechanism. The unit retains a nice antique patina and shows signs of use and oxidation consistent with its age.
