Description from the seller
********Natural Corundum
****Variant: Ruby - originating from the Afghan valleys, near the Panjshir mining sites,
these corundums whose chromium, a factor in distinguishing sapphire as a gem far rarer than ruby, is prized in high-end jewelry.
Its natural characteristics, untreated, attract a growing number of enthusiasts and collectors of rare and precious stones.
****Afghan Rubies are, today, commonly all heat-treated to increase clarity and enhance their color to deep tones due to their high iron content.
Untreated rarities like this jewel here, the lot of this sale, are therefore investment-grade not to be missed.
Color: Intense red with deep tones accompanying high saturation blending Red, Purple, Pink with the distant "Blue flare" undeniably the most beautiful shade for a collection ruby.
Weight: 1.21 Carats
Dimensions: 6.96 x 5.15 x 3.68 mm
Oval Cut, Brilliant Faceted
Careful polishing, preserving with care the proportions of this gem that is among the last still possible to find.
Natural inclusions remain (see photos taken in Macro X25 in studio with artificial lighting, varying 5200K)
In these untreated, over-a-carot faceted rubies, the finest pieces can have minuscule inclusions that bring them close to eye-clean.
