Omega Seamaster Calendar Automatic – Ref. 2849-9 SC – Cal. 503 – ca. 1960 – men’s watch

A particularly beautiful vintage Omega Seamaster Calendar Automatic from circa
1960, equipped with the automatic Omega caliber 503. The movement bears
serial number 17.092.585, which dates this Omega around 1960. The Seamaster
belongs to the most iconic lines of Omega and this early
Calendar version combines the elegant design of a classic dresswatch with the characteristic appearance of the early Seamaster
generation.

A special detail of this piece is the large raised Seamaster
Hippocampus medallion on the back. This so-called large
Hippocampus or “Seamonster” version is a less common and among collectors beloved variant that appears on early Seamaster references, including
the 2849.

The watch has a beautiful, pronounced vintage appearance. The light
dial has developed over the years a very strong and particularly characterful patina, with warm discolorations and a nicely speckled pattern over
the surface. In combination with the gold-colored applied hour markers,
dauphine hands and the gold-colored case, this gives the watch an almost unique
look. It is precisely this natural aging that gives the piece a lot of personality and makes it a particularly attractive watch for the
enthusiast of authentic vintage watches.

Condition:

The watch is in a beautiful and especially characterful vintage condition with signs of wear appropriate for its age. The case shows visible signs of wear and localized wear to the gold-colored finish.
One of the most striking features is the beautifully aged dial. Over the decades it has developed a pronounced, warm patina with natural discolorations and spotting. Rather than detracting from the look, this gives the watch a very authentic and individual vintage character. Not a pristine restored piece, but a Seamaster that shows its age and history in a particularly attractive way.

Also the large raised Hippocampus medallion on the back is still clearly present and forms an attractive detail of this less common variant of the Seamaster 2849.

The automatic Omega Cal. 503 movement runs as it should and has a good power reserve. The maintenance history is unknown.
No warranty is given on water resistance, since the watch has not been tested for it.
