Description from the seller
Armand Meffre (1929–2009) French actor and painter.
- Spring 1999
A symbolic figure of the theater and cinema, Armand Meffre acted under the direction of major filmmakers, alongside Philippe Noiret, Jean Rochefort, or Gérard Depardieu.
Trained in painting under master André Lhote, he developed a sensitive, luminous, and deeply humane body of work. His canvases, imbued with tenderness and poetry, reveal a profoundly human gaze, between restrained emotion and sincere simplicity. A complete artist, each painting tells a story and is moved by its authenticity.
A artist of great talent with notable results at public sales. Participates in major international art fairs in the United States, China, and Europe.
- La Gare de Robion No. 1 of 1983 - signed bottom left, dated and titled on the verso, original work, oil on canvas mounted on board, 50x65 cm, fixed to a wooden frame. The theme of Robion and its railway station is dear to the artist; it was for him the symbol of a departure toward Paris where his artistic career began and made him famous.
The works are widely present in galleries and private museums in Russia, Italy, USA, the United Kingdom, and China.
Certificate of authenticity signed by the artist will be provided to the buyer.
