An exquisite Japanese Hagi ware (Hagi-yaki) matcha tea bowl (chawan) crafted by the renowned master potter Yoshika Taibi (吉賀大眉, 1915–1991) at the historic Senryuzan Kiln (泉流山) in Hagi, Yamaguchi Prefecture.

This bowl showcases the classic aesthetic of traditional Hagi ceramics. It features a warm, soft clay body coated with a smooth glaze, complemented by dramatic white glaze drips along the rim and outer wall. Fine crackles (kannyu) are present throughout the glaze, which will subtly absorb tea over time and develop a unique character—a celebrated phenomenon known as Hagi-no-nanabake (the seven transformations of Hagi ware).

The potter's seal (kain) is impressed near the foot ring (kodai). An original artist biography leaflet is included.

Artist Profile:
Yoshika Taibi (1915–1991): Graduated from the Tokyo Fine Arts School (sculpture department). A prominent figure in modern Japanese ceramic art, he served as a juror for Nitten (Japan Fine Arts Exhibition) and executive member of the Japan Contemporary Craft Arts Association. He received numerous awards and held exhibitions internationally, including cultural missions in Europe and South America.
