An evocative still life in which precious objects, colour and symbolism converge. Against a deep, almost infinite black ground, an ornate golden vessel is placed beside a vivid red coral form, both resting upon richly folded crimson velvet.

Sciacca heightens the sense of theatre through his contrasts: the warm metallic surface of the vessel against the organic intensity of the coral, and the saturated red cloth against the surrounding darkness. The composition recalls the tradition of the still life while introducing an element of mystery and symbolism.
