O. De Rycker & Mendel – RED STAR LINE / State Railways and Ocean Liners of Belgium – 1909
Rare old advertising poster for the State Railways and Ocean Liners of Belgium, produced in collaboration with the famous Red Star Line, to promote sea excursions departing from Antwerp, Brussels and Dover. The Red Star Line is one of the great transatlantic companies of the Belle Époque, linking notably Antwerp to New York. Its history, closely linked to European emigration to the United States, is today retraced at the Red Star Line Museum in Antwerp.
Beautiful Belle Époque composition in blue and orange colors, particularly graphic, depicting an elegant traveler observing a liner on the horizon.
Poster printed in Brussels by O. De Rycker & Mendel.
The copy still bears the administrative stamp of the era “Bon à afficher – 10 Juil 09,” allowing precise dating to 1909.
Dimensions: 74 × 49 cm.
Original old poster, mounted on a professional backing by Schleiper in 2017.
Very good condition. Original old poster showing signs of age, notably old creases, light marks and marginal wear, consistent with its age. See photos for overall condition.
