A lot of 18 porcelain plates from Longwy, France, model Maurice, dating to circa 1900–1910, with a central multicolour fruit basket motif and brown trellis borders, 12 large plates and 6 dessert plates, in good vintage condition with minor edge wear.
Description from the seller
Magnificent set of 18 antique faience plates (ironstone) from the prestigious French Longwy factory, model “Maurice.” These authentic pieces date from the very early 20th century (estimated 1890–1910), as evidenced by the official mark with the factory’s coat of arms on the back. The Art Deco-style decoration features a superb central cup embellished with a hand-painted polychrome fruit basket, framed by geometric motifs and brown lattice borders on a fluted edge. The lot comprises 18 pieces: 12 large plates (flat plates) 6 medium plates (dessert/entrée plates).
Condition: Good vintage and authentic. The set shows a charming patina of age that adds to the appeal of ironstone. For transparency: a few light, discreet edge nicks on the brown liseré of the festoon borders and small superficial chips mainly on the back (plate feet), with no impact on their solidity or on the beauty of the central decoration. No major cracks running through. The stated price reflects these imperfections.
One chip on the back of a plate; the rest still presents well—see all photos to gauge.
Very pretty decor.
These plates are about 126 years old.
