Ralf Altrieth presents Beloved obstacle - XXL, an original acrylic and sgraffito on canvas, 195 × 150 cm, dated 2018, signed by the artist, in excellent condition, from France.
Description from the seller
At first glance, Ralf Altrieth's painting seems to burst forth in a free, instinctive surge. Then the gaze lingers—and gradually reveals a more complex world, traversed by moving forms, unexpected encounters and unforeseen balances. Nothing is fixed. The work constantly evolves according to the distance, the light and the time spent in front of it.
In this universe, the boundary between abstraction and figuration remains deliberately unstable. Possible silhouettes surface, depths are suggested, never fixed. The gaze is engaged, set in motion. Seeing becomes an active, almost physical experience.
But beyond their immediate energy, Ralf Altrieth's works establish themselves permanently in space. They settle in through their density. Through their presence. And through this rare ability to transform the space in which they take place.

CRITIQUE ET PRESSE:
"In this sense, the pictorial poems of Ralf Altrieth are a pure childish song. From the crucible of improvisation he brings forth a world intact, made of spontaneous joys and strong impulses."
— Dr Friedhelm Häring, art historian and museum director
