Nu féminin dans l’atelier - NO RESERVE, 2010–2020, oil on canvas, Spain.
Description from the seller
Female nude in the studio
Oil on canvas.
An interesting work belonging to the contemporary Spanish school, focused on the representation of the female nude from a decidedly modern perspective.
The composition presents a naked woman seen from behind, leaning on a surface covered by fabric with her legs crossed. The figure almost entirely occupies the vertical axis of the painting, acquiring a monumental presence, while the interior space surrounding it is reduced to a few essential elements.
The work stands out especially for its construction through large chromatic planes. The female body is not modeled according to strict naturalistic skin values, but through an appealing combination of pinks, earth tones, violets, ochres and blueish shadows. This chromatic freedom adds depth and expressive character to the anatomy.
The treatment of the figure reveals a contemporary figurative painting in which certain post-Cubist and expressionist resonances can be observed. The anatomy appears deliberately synthesized: back, shoulders, hips and legs are articulated through angular surfaces and defined tonal changes, granting as much importance to the pictorial structure as to the representation of the body.
It is particularly interesting the contrast between the organic forms of the figure and the interior geometry. The furniture on the right is built through large rectangular surfaces in orange and ochre tones, while the table or bed establishes a broad horizontal line that traverses the composition. These architectural lines provide stability against the body’s dominant verticality.
The model’s pose — with one hand resting, the other raised toward the neck and the legs elegantly crossed — introduces a sense of naturalness and intimacy. The artist avoids a narrative representation to focus fundamentally on the body, light, color and space.
The simplification of the face, almost hidden from the viewer, also reinforces the universal and anonymous character of the figure. We are not looking at a conventional portrait but at a contemporary study of the female nude, where the model’s identity is subordinated to the plastic values of the composition.
Thus, the work is situated within contemporary Spanish figurative painting, heir to different European modernity experiences and characterized here by formal synthesis, color autonomy, and a visible and direct brushstroke.
The result is a painting of notable decorative presence, balanced between figuration, geometrization and chromatic expressiveness.
The conservation status should be assessed using the provided photographs, which are an integral part of the description.
The work will be carefully packaged in a professional manner, using appropriate materials to provide the maximum possible protection during transport.
IMPORTANT: shipments destined for islands, non-mainland territories or destinations subject to customs procedures may incur additional transport, handling and/or customs costs, which will be borne by the buyer.
