This piece comes from an exhibition that was on view from January 31, 2026 to February 28, 2026 at the Casa da Cultura de Estarreja, Portugal, celebrating the golden era of arcade halls through a vibrant scene of nostalgia and digital dynamism. The pixelated, expressive, and colorful figures come to life beyond the screens, surrounded by gaming machines and a fizz of graphics that evoke 80s and 90s pop culture.
The work stands out for the contrast between the geometric rigor of pixel art and the organic fluidity of urban art. Through a mixed technique that uses stencil, spray, and markers, layers of depth were created where glitch elements and ink runs challenge the order of the screen. The composition is finished with textures that simulate neon light, transforming the concept of "Game Over" into a visual invitation to persistence and the eternal "Try Again".

Nuno Sardine is a visual artist whose practice sits at the intersection of carnival aesthetics and contemporary art. His painting is marked by a stylistic fusion between pop culture, the graphic rawness of Street Art, and the emotional and pictorial intensity of neo-expressionism. His work explores narratives, identity themes, and the eternal quest for creative transgression. He is also a Portuguese costume designer, widely recognized for his role as art director, especially connected to Carnival and samba schools in Portugal. He combines training in plastic arts and fashion design with the development of Carnival parades, costumes, and plots, standing out for creativity in the universe of visual arts.

Under his direction, several groups have received awards, including best costumes, best plot, and most original show, having been crowned local and national champions multiple times.
