Esther Cela - La vida en la plaza

Description: Original work that represents a Mediterranean plaza in a moment of calm and everyday activity.
In the center of the composition is the church, crowned by its tower and clock, surrounded by buildings with warm facades and arcades. The square comes to life through small scenes that happen simultaneously: people chatting, neighbors having a coffee, families strolling and children playing in the open space.
The dog that accompanies one of the pedestrians and the children’s ball add movement and spontaneity to the scene, while the different sizes and positions of the figures create depth and help guide the eye through the entire composition.
The work aims to convey precisely that sense of a lived-in square, where architecture serves as a stage for daily encounters and small stories that unfold at the same time.
The use of warm colors on the facades, contrasted with the blue of the sky, together with the simple and expressive treatment of the figures, gives the work a Mediterranean, luminous, and approachable character.
