This acrylic-on-canvas work is part of the tradition of contemporary neocubism, standing out for a pronounced geometric fragmentation of shapes and an expressive, saturated use of color. The composition foregrounds the stylized figure of a woman seated in a red striped armchair, who calmly holds two cats, creating an timeless scene of domestic intimacy. The treatment of the female face stands out, resolved through the simultaneous juxtaposition of profile and frontal view that echoes Picasso’s aesthetic, where bold black lines outline chromatic fields of green, yellow, orange, and red. The direct gazes of both the protagonist and the felines establish a direct dialogue with the viewer, while the abstract, dynamic background arranges angular planes that contribute formal balance, contrast, and a notable visual rhythm to the piece.
Silvia is a painter from Alicante who lives and works in Alicante, Spain. Her work develops a personal language in which the legacy of Cubism and a sensibility close to Pop merge, combining geometry, color, and formal synthesis to reinterpret scenes of everyday life.
The female figure occupies a central place in her painting, often accompanied by cats, still lifes, flowers, and visual references linked to Spanish culture and to her own roots. Through these images, Silvia builds an intimate universe in which her surroundings, experiences, and cultural identity are transformed into pictorial matter.
Her painting does not seek to reproduce reality literally, but to reorganize it from emotion and thought. Through fragmented forms, geometric structures, and a marked chromatic expressiveness, the artist turns the everyday into a contemporary visual language that is recognizable and deeply personal.
