Description from the seller

Set of three octagonal solid-wood boxes in thuya burl design – 1970s

Refined and elegant set of three decorative design boxes, made in the 1970s in solid thuya burl, a precious wood essence highly valued in cabinetmaking for the extraordinary richness and variety of its grain.
The three boxes feature a sophisticated octagonal shape and progressively smaller dimensions. The burl surface is characterized by a splendid natural figure with knots and marquetry that create a different pattern each time, accompanied by warm tones ranging from amber to deep brown.
Particularly beautiful is the overall quality of craftsmanship: the wood characterizes the entire items, including the interiors and bases, maintaining in the even less visible parts the same aesthetic refinement as the exterior.
The geometric profiles are elegantly highlighted by thin borders in a darker wood, creating a pleasant contrast with the warm tones of the thuya. Each box retains its independent lid, also richly marbled and finished with a small dark central knob.
The set consists of three independent elements. In the photographs the boxes have been nested inside one another solely to show the progression of size; they are not intended to be closed in this configuration.

Dimensions:
Large box: 15.3 × 15.3 × 8.5 cm
Medium box: 12 × 12 × 7 cm
Small box: 9 × 9 × 5.5 cm

An extremely decorative ensemble, representative of the design taste of the seventies, a period in which essential geometries were often paired with the material richness of the most sought-after woods.

Ideal in an interior project, they can be presented together on a console, a desk or a coffee table, or used separately as elegant decorative containers. The combination of the geometric rigor of the octagonal shape and the natural movement of thuya burl allows them to fit very easily into both classic environments and contemporary interiors.

Good overall condition, with minor signs and traces of time compatible with the age and use.

The photos are an integral part of the description.
