Stamping on the metal base (Walker & Hall): Coat of arms/logo in the shape of a banner with the initials W&H and the number 54.
Written out in full: WALKER & HALL SHEFFIELD ENGLAND
Model/catalog number printed: 12414
Punch-mark on the lid: Punch stamp W & H S (Walker & Hall Sheffield), the word ENGLAND, and the number 12414.
Ceramic markings:
Hand-painted blue decoration code under glaze on the base: B 757.
Provenance:
Family inheritance/collection (Italy). The item has belonged to the same family since the 1980s (purchased in Italy on the antique market).
General condition: Excellent condition relative to age (about 130–140 years).
Metal (EPNS silver-plated): Shows a natural and attractive dark patina due to oxidation and light wear on the plating consistent with the era and use. No dents.
Ceramics: Intact structure, free from chips or cracks. Exhibits a widespread and characteristic craquelé effect (craquelure of the vitreous glaze) natural and typical of Victorian-era ceramics.
