Wood storm glass barometer dating to 1980–1990 of German origin, with a thermometer measuring -15 to 50°C, dimensions 46 cm high by 10 cm wide by 7 cm deep, weight 1200 g, in good used condition with minor signs of aging and small stains.

A storm glass barometer made after the model of Admiral Fitzroy (1805-1865).
He was an expert in the field of seafaring and meteorology.
Fitzroy could predict the weather for the coming two days by the changes of a liquid inside a glass tube. A special mixture of water, alcohol and crystal salt in the glass tube was the secret of his barometer.
The liquid in this barometer is turbid and no longer works well. But also decorative this is a beautiful instrument.
