Belgian silver cream/milk pitcher (argent massif — 1814–1831)

This is an antique silver cream pitcher (also known as a milk jug) with a gilded interior. This type of tableware typically dates from the Empire period or the early 19th century (circa 1800–1830).

Features of this object:
Gevormd handvat: The jug has a sleek, angular and high continuous handle (often called a stirrup handle or loop handle) that is characteristic for the neoclassical and Empire style.

Vergulde binnenkant: The golden glow on the inside (fire gilding) was applied not only for aesthetic reasons but also to protect the silver from the acids in milk or cream.

Keurmerken: On the right upper side, just below the rim at the spout, the stamped silver marks (hallmarks) are visible. These stamps reveal the silversmith, the fineness, and the town or year of origin.
