On wooden panels
Albert Temming (1942) studied at the Artibus Art Academy in Utrecht, where he focused on realist painting. His work breathes calm and refinement: expansive meadows with cows, quiet villages by the water, snowy landscapes and still urban scenes. From his house opposite Amelisweerd he continually drew inspiration from the light and nature of that area.Temmings paintings have an almost classical appearance - think of 17th-century masters - but with a modern sensibility. In his still lifes with fish, poultry or flowers you feel a love of detail, and for the magic of the everyday. Sometimes there is a slight estrangement in his work: a strange stillness, a mysterious composition. In that, he touches magical realism and aligns with the Utrecht tradition of the surreal in the ordinary.
Temming was active for many years in the Utrecht art scene, as a teacher at Artibus and as a member of Kunstliefde.
