Description from the seller
Old complete set of 13 precision balance weights in brass/bronze with wooden box
Old and complete set of 13 weights for a balance, preserved in its original wooden box, consisting of the following graduations:
1 kg, 500 g, 200 g, 100 g, 100 g, 50 g, 20 g, 10 g, 10 g, 5 g, 2 g, 2 g and 1 g.
The weights feature the traditional construction characteristic of antique balance weights, with a circular body and an upper part raised to facilitate handling. Each piece is intended to fit into its corresponding cavity in the box, forming a compact and orderly set.
The configuration of duplicating the 100 g, 10 g and 2 g weights corresponds to a traditional metrological arrangement used to obtain different weight combinations with high precision. The combined nominal capacity of the set is 2 kg.
The pieces show natural patina, darkening and signs of use compatible with their age, which give the set a historically attractive appearance. The wooden box likewise shows marks, small scratches and wear typical of use and the passage of time.
A particularly interesting piece for collectors of scientific instruments, historical metrology objects, antique balances and commercial utensils
