Description from the seller
Auctioning a piece of immense prestige and charm: a Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea Automatic Date in the highly sought emerald green. A timepiece that fuses high-end sports watchmaking with a hypnotic naturalistic design.
This watch is Montblanc's first professional diver certified (ISO 6425), but it is famous above all for its revolutionary dial. The manufacture has managed to recreate the three-dimensional texture, the veining, and the depth of glacial ice (inspired by Mer de Glace on Mont Blanc) through a complex and ancient artisanal technique called gratté-boisé. The deep emerald green color captures the light, evoking the reflections of alpine lakes surrounded by glaciers.
The technical setup is impeccable. The 41 mm stainless steel case is topped with a unidirectional rotating bezel in glossy two-tone green ceramic, scratch-resistant. The watch is water resistant up to 30 ATM (300 meters) and the solid case back boasts a magnificent 3D laser engraving depicting a scuba diver and an iceberg. Indices and hands are generously filled with Super-LumiNova for perfect legibility in the dark, as documented in the photographs. The heart is the automatic movement Caliber MB 24.17.
The conservation state is to be considered in excellent overall condition (excellent). The watch has been preserved with extreme care. The sapphire crystal and the ceramic bezel insert are pristine, free of any marks. The stainless steel case is radiant and robust. On the bracelet and, particularly, on the deployant clasp, one notices only extremely rare, negligible, and almost imperceptible superficial micro-scratches (hairlines) due to normal and meticulous handling of the object, which do not affect its beauty. The engraved solid case back is also perfectly clear.
