Rare foreign edition from the official publication year 1852, printed in London/Brussels during Victor Hugo's exile.

Contemporary half-leather binding with a gilt spine and green-marbled boards. Hand-marbled endpapers inside. In the front with a little space in between. (See photos.)

Corners and edges bumped and worn, with some loss of the marbled paper. Front and back covers also somewhat worn. (See photos.)

Inside good, no water damage or the like, only some age-related spots. Name and date written in ink on the front flyleaf. (See photos.)
