This work represents one of the first major illustrated chronicles of the Second World War published in Italy in the postwar period. Originally released in serial fascicles in the 1960s, it was later gathered into these bound volumes. It features a broad iconographic apparatus, maps, and testimonies, typical of mass-market historical publishing of the Rizzoli/Purnell era.
