Description from the seller
Vintage Greek Corinthian jug – Museum Copy – Decorated Ceramic/Terracotta – c. 1970–1980
Elegant vintage reproduction of Greek ceramic in Corinthian style, inspired by pieces from classical antiquity.
Inspired by a Greek jug from the Corinthian period, ca. 550 BC.
The piece features a stylized jug shape, with a long neck, an elevated handle, and a body decorated with a rich composition of animal and vegetal motifs in black, ochre, and terracotta tones.
It stands out especially for preserving its lead medallion seal “HAND MADE”, still attached to the handle, a distinctive attractive detail characteristic of this type of Greek reproductions intended for collectors and lovers of classical art.
At the base it also retains the original inscription referencing the Corinthian period, clearly identifying the piece as a reproduction of a historic model rather than an ancient archaeological object.
By its characteristics, it belongs to the type of Greek decorative reproductions produced during the second half of the 20th century, especially popular during the 1970s–1980s.
A piece with a strong presence, ideal for collectors of Greek ceramics, museum replicas, classical art, and Mediterranean decor, and especially attractive for preserving both the base inscription and its seal.
It is in good vintage condition, with small signs of age and use consistent with the years, visible in the photographs and that are part of the piece’s character.
The photographs are an integral part of the description. It will be carefully packaged to ensure adequate protection during transport.
