Description from the seller

Antique mandolin with a rounded bulging back and a decorative black shield with floral inlay around the soundhole. Mother-of-pearl dots along the neck. The bulging back is made from a single piece of wood.

The instrument is believed to originate from the first quarter of the 20th century. There is no label; maker and provenance are unknown. Probably an affordable folk model, possibly of German or Czech manufacture, common in Europe at the time.

The instrument shows the usual wear appropriate for its age: scratches on the sides and back. The tuning pegs have been replaced at a later time. Suitable as a decorative object or for restoration by a hobbyist.
