Floral Art Nouveau table lamp in metal with a large matte glass shade, estimated 1910–1920, about 34 cm high, 15 cm wide and 25 cm deep, in good used condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
Extraordinary floral table lamp in the Art Nouveau style, probably from the early 20th century, with an intricately designed metal base and a large frosted floral glass shade.
The entire design of the lamp follows a plant motif. From the richly relief-rounded base grows an elegantly curved green metal stem that supports the lampshade. On the side there is additionally a smaller, orange flower with its own curved stem. This makes the lamp feel less like a technical utilitarian object and more like a stylized plant.
Particularly decorative is the large frosted glass shade. It is designed as a hanging bloom with a plastically modeled surface and strongly undulated, petal-like edges. The satinized glass provides soft light distribution when lit.
The round metal base features a pronounced floral relief. Together with the curved stem, the leaf motifs and the small colored blossom, this yields the characteristic Art Nouveau fusion of natural form and utilitarian object.
The lamp stands approximately 34 cm high, a very appealing size for a sideboard, nightstand, desk, windowsill, or end table.
No manufacturer or designer is identifiable on the object at present. Based on the design, the lamp is cautiously classified as from the early 20th century, around 1910–1930. The exact origin and dating are not documented.
