This album in 4° oblong format (24 x 32 cm) stands out for its superb publisher’s binding in full red linen percaline, adorned with a spectacular gold typographic design that gleams with exceptional freshness. The hinges, headbands, and corners are perfectly preserved, which is extremely rare for linen bindings of that era.

The work includes the 8 preliminary unnumbered pages (title page and table of contents), followed by the 25 complete chapters. Each section comprises 4 pages of descriptive text and its 8 full-page color plates, for a total of 108 pages of text and 200 polychrome plates.
The illustrations are magnificent autotypes/photochromes printed and engraved with masterful precision by the famous workshops of Charles Gillot. The Egypt photographs are based on the original negatives of the greatest Oriental photography masters of the 19th century: Zangaki, Fiorillo, Sébah, and Abdullah Freres.
