Uebelacker - Jardinière (2) - Ceramic - Post-war German heritage

Impressive and richly decorated jardinière with a matching ceramic pillar, produced in the former West Germany. The complete set has a total height of approximately 74 cm and, due to its size, warm chocolate-brown glaze and pronounced relief decoration, forms a particularly decorative object.

The jardinière bears the original factory sticker from Uebelacker Keramik and carries the model number 128/28 on the underside. This model number has been independently documented as Uebelacker Keramik; specimens of model 128/28 are registered as West German ceramic from the 1960s.

Post-war West German heritage
This set dates from the period when Germany was still divided into West Germany (BRD) and East Germany (DDR). During the economic reconstruction, a thriving ceramics industry developed in West Germany. The pronounced forms, reliefs and glazes from this period are today internationally known within the collecting field of West German Pottery.
The post-war ceramic history is currently receiving special museal attention. The Keramikmuseum Westerwald presents from 8 May 2026 to 4 April 2027 the exhibition “Vibrant Joy of Life. Industrial Ceramics of the Post-War Era,” devoted to industrially produced ceramics from the post-war period 1950–1980 and the culture around 'Made in West Germany'.

Design
The set is finished in a deep chocolate-brown high-gloss glaze. The surface is almost entirely covered with raised floral ornamentation with leaves, tendrils and strong scroll motifs. The higher-relief sections catch the light and create warm lighter brown tones against the dark background.
The broad, profiled edge of the jardinière and the slender, architectural shape of the pillar give the combination a monumental character. It is particularly suitable as a solitary interior piece, but it also looks stunning with a large green houseplant such as a Monstera.

Condition: excellent vintage condition; the set presents exceptionally well. The glaze retains its deep shine and the extensive relief comes out very sharply. No damages.

Due to the size, weight of over 5.3 kg, and the fragility of the ceramics, jardinière and pillar are packed separately and with great care. Both parts are supplied with multiple layers of protective and shock-absorbing packing material, with extra attention to the edges, base and relief decoration.
