Part of the Origin conceptual series, exploring the relationship between pain, creation, transformation, and human consciousness.
Constructed from hundreds of individually placed nails driven through wood and covered in monochrome red, the artwork transforms an aggressive industrial material into a controlled sculptural structure. Inspired by Michelangelo’s The Creation of Adam, the work reflects the moment life begins to question its creator, its identity, meaning, and purpose. Two reaching hands remain suspended just before contact, creating a visual tension between creation and independence.
The textured monochrome red surface is finished with a glossy protective coat, while the individually positioned nails create depth, shadow, and movement across the composition.
Each nail was manually positioned and hammered individually over many hours of work. Slight irregularities, paint variations, and subtle imperfections are intentionally preserved as traces of the human hand. The artwork rejects mechanical perfection in favor of presence, process, and authenticity.
Because of its sculptural depth, the appearance of the work changes with light and viewing angle. The projecting nails create constantly shifting shadows, forming a secondary composition around the physical artwork and making the piece dynamic rather than static.

Tiberiu is a self-taught Romanian contemporary artist based in Bucharest and co-founder of CanisterCrafts, an independent contemporary art studio focused on material experimentation and emotionally driven sculptural compositions.
Coming from a background in digital design and architecture, his artistic practice developed from a desire to reconnect with physical creation in an increasingly artificial visual world.
His works combine wood, industrial materials, relief structures, and labor-intensive manual processes into tactile compositions in which imperfection becomes part of the visual language.
Rather than pursuing mechanical precision, his approach embraces tension, process, shadow, texture, and transformation, allowing each material to retain its own character.
