Rare Viennese Bronze by Franz Xaver Bergmann – "Nam Greb" (Nude / Erotica, ca. 1895–1920)
For sale is an extraordinary and rare Viennese bronze sculpture from the height of Orientalism (late 19th / early 20th century, ca. 1895–1920) from the renowned foundry of Franz Xaver Bergmann.
Details & Features:
• Subject: Expressive Oriental female figure (nude/erotica) with a distinctive bulldog on a leash, standing on a richly detailed, cold-painted Oriental rug.
• Signature: Fully marked on the underside with the coveted Bergmann stamp ("B" in a jug) as well as the artist's signature "Nam Greb" (Bergmann's well-known anagram pseudonym for erotic and Oriental motifs).
• Condition: Very beautiful original state with expressive patina and authentic traces of the original cold painting.
• Dating: Created in the bloom of Viennese bronzes around the turn of the century (ca. 1895–1920).
