Description
TYPE I is a personal art project by Pieter Bas Bouwman, who has lived with type 1 diabetes since the age of seven. The work translates a daily reality into a visual language of repetition and rhythm.
Central to it is the tension between control and temptation, two forces that constantly strive for priority.
Each work consists of a box filled with insulin syringes, hand arranged into a pattern on a wooden substrate. Placing them demands patience and precision; the repetition that emerges evokes the routines by which a life is structured, whether or not diabetes is involved.
A plexiglass cover completes the work, temptation that remains visible, but just out of reach.
