For sale, a beautiful complete 5-volume set of the famous medical work by Auguste Vidal (of Cassis):

Set comprising the 5 volumes, all numbered 1 to 5 and retaining their old bindings in brown leather with decorative tooling and gilded lines.

The works are abundantly illustrated with medical and anatomical engravings, as shown by the photographs. The set presents a beautiful patina corresponding to its age and preserves an authentic nineteenth-century medical book character.

Interesting feature: an old handwritten note is preserved in Volume 1. It comes from the family collection of doctors and pharmacists: the note is therefore sold with the book as an antique manuscript document.

Condition:
An old set in its original state, with visible wear to the bindings: patinated leather, rubbing, headcaps and upper spine areas damaged, as well as some loss of material. Signs of use and aging are also present on the pages.

The volumes remain readable and the texts and illustrations are well preserved after examination.

Set particularly interesting for collectors of ancient books, the history of medicine or pharmacy, or for enthusiasts of nineteenth-century medical libraries.
