Description from the seller

Ian Fleming – Goldfinger – 1959 First UK Edition, First Impression

An excellent collector’s copy of the true first edition, first impression of Ian Fleming’s seventh James Bond adventure, Goldfinger, published by Jonathan Cape in London, 1959

This copy features the striking original black cloth boards designed by Richard Chopping. It is blocked with a blind-stamped human skull motif and inset with vibrant, brightly gilded coin pieces inside the eye sockets. The spine is elegantly lettered in gilt.

Condition Report:

Binding: Tight and structurally sound. The black cloth shows minor, expected shelf rubbing along the extreme edges and corners. The blind-stamped skull design and the gilt lettering on the spine remain distinct.

Spine: Straight with a very mild, completely natural lean from reading. The head and tail of the spine show minor softening/rubbing typical for a volume of this age.

Edges & Text Block: The page edges show consistent, moderate age-toning/browning, which is entirely standard for the paper stock used by Jonathan Cape in 1959. No major staining, heavy foxing, or liquid damage is visible on the text block edges.

Interior: Exceptionally clean, crisp, and flat. The text remains bright and highly readable with no internal foxing, annotations, or thumb-marking. The guttering between pages is strong and completely intact. No owner inscriptions, stamps, or bookplates present.
318p, dimension: 19.0cm x 13.0cm.
