Description
Beautiful and authentic antique acetylene/carbide bicycle lamp, bearing the CICCA relief marking on its mounting system.
This lamp most likely dates from the early 20th century, a period when this type of illumination was commonly used on bicycles before the widespread adoption of electric lighting.
It features a prominent front headlamp with domed glass, its carbide reservoir and its mechanical mounting system allowing it to be fitted to a bicycle.
The piece presents a superb antique patina, with oxidation, signs of use and variations in the metal’s hue that give it a lot of character. These marks of time have been intentionally preserved.
The mechanism appears relatively complete visually, but its operation has not been tested and is therefore not guaranteed.
