Wooden spinning wheel dating from ca. 1850–1900, with a large right-side spoke wheel and traditional spindle head mechanism; dimensions 90 cm wide, 87 cm high, 48 cm deep, origin Netherlands, in fair condition with heavy use and possible small parts missing.
Description from the seller
a beautiful, authentic antique wooden spinning wheel from the late 19th century (circa 1850-1880). This classic model is a wonderful example of historical Dutch/Flemish craftsmanship and folk art.
The spinning wheel is fully crafted from dark-stained, seasoned hardwood and exhibits a splendid natural patina that testifies to decades of history. The object features a characteristic large spoked wheel on the right side and a traditional spindle head mechanism on the left side.
Technical state & details:
Mechanism: The wooden 'mother' (crossbeam) is equipped with the original, sturdy wooden adjustment screw at the front. This allows the position of the spindle head to be manually adjusted to regulate the tension on the (not included) drive rope.
Authenticity: The wood shows the antique characteristic, old wood-boring holes in the spindle head housing. This gives the object its unique, rustic appearance and historical charm.
Condition: Visually in a very nice, decorative state. It has had some repairs in the past due to intensive use.
Mechanically, the basic parts are present and rotatable, but the wheel is primarily offered as a high-quality decorative piece or prop for a country or historical interior.
Photos are part of the description.
This item will be carefully packaged and, if necessary, dismantled for shipping.
