ONLY ONE LEFT IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format work, Medsan brings Sonic the Hedgehog, SEGA's mascot born in 1991 under Naoto Ōshima, into the vocabulary of medieval stained glass. The blue hedgehog darts full speed ahead, spines laid down by velocity, framed by a looping arc and a shower of rings — the visual grammar of Green Hill Zone treated as a cathedral stained glass window. The collision is frontal: the video game icon takes the place reserved for saints, in a medium designed to tell exemplary lives.
The rendering faithfully imitates the codes of glass art: a network of thick black lead cames that outlines every form, irregularly shaded colored glass pieces, bubbles and streaks caught in the material, peripheral lead and metallic wires along the edges. The palette plays turquoise and sky blue in the background against the deep cobalt blue of the character, punctuated by the red of the sneakers and the amber yellow of the rings; the track and looping fade into translucent greens and purples. The treatment of the speed lines, engraved with grisaille on the light background, gives the glass a horizontal dynamism that classical stained glass ignores. In the bottom right corner, the cartouche メドサン signs the piece in katakana.
This mashup speaks to our relationship with icons: stained glass was the quintessential popular medium, the luminous image that taught those who could not read to read the world. Placing Sonic behind this filter is to acknowledge that an entire generation received its foundational figures from a screen rather than a nave. The traversing light, here simulated by the background brightness, makes the speed hero a figure of contemplation — exactly the opposite of his original function.
What you receive is a unique giclee print: a pigment print on canvas, stretched on a wooden frame, numbered 1/1 and hand-signed. A graphic and luminous piece, ideal for bringing a pop and sacred touch to a collector's interior attached to video game icons.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a studio of artists gathered around a living and plural contemporary creation. Set up as a genuine artistic production space, the studio operates both in collaborative creation and in individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family adventure. Le Yack, contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematographic and realist influences. By his side, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, art brut, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and a unique identity for each artist.
