Who is pier?
Son of parents working abroad, pier, alias Pierre Sullice, spent his childhood and adolescence in Latin America. It was during his stay in Ecuador, thanks to the friendship of his son-in-law, that he discovered the work of Oswaldo Guayasamín and awakened to the plastic arts. Since that day, he has continually been passionate about painting, notably modern and contemporary.
After studying modern literature and philosophy, pier joined Fémis before writing his first fiction screenplay, the story of a painter exiled in the Cévennes who discovers a materialist approach to painting thanks to a mentally challenged man. Entitled « Les bois transparents », the screenplay won the Cent Premières œuvres, a competition set up by France Télévisions. Pier himself made the film which was broadcast on France 3, RFO and TMC and awarded in numerous festivals.
Not abandoning writing, reading and audiovisual animation, pier continues his exploration of the plastic arts, creating numerous collages inspired by drawings of children. In 2023, after ending his career in audiovisual, he settled in the Gard to devote himself exclusively to painting.
Thriving in his Lecques studio, pier broadens his pictorial research by exploiting supports on recycled paper or decorative canvases on frames through acrylic painting, felt-tip pen or pastel. In doing so, he openly aligns himself with an Art Brut and Cobra current that owes as much to Chaissac as to Karel Appel, Alechinsky or Lindström. By mixing spontaneity and humor, he carves out a personal path that leads to a florilegium of characters both surprising and endearing.
Recent exhibitions:
2023 - Saint-Christol (34) Galerie Lisanna
2024 - Sommières (30) Salle Tibère
2025 - Sauve (30) - Galerie Alter’Livres
- Lecques (30) - JNA: portes ouvertes workshops
2026 - Aubais (30) - Château d’Aubais
