French school (XVIII) - Herderin met hond

Very beautiful French painting on canvas glued onto a wooden panel. Second half of the 18th century.

We see a shepherdess accompanied by a dog. Surrounded by a wooded landscape. Expression of rural life which was very much in vogue with the French aristocracy circa 1760-1790.

The canvas needs restoration, small overpainting to the head and hand.
