A figure stands in front of a mirror – but the reflection remains fragmentary and seems to dissolve almost into the surrounding space.
I’m interested in scenes like this in the moment between what we show of ourselves and what we perceive ourselves to be. The figure is present and at the same time not fully tangible. Strong reds, burgundy and pink tones meet bright, almost physically tangible color fields.
A painting about self-reflection, closeness and distance – and about the question of whether we ever see ourselves as others see us.
