Original Chinese Propaganda Poster – Mao Zedong – 1967

Rare Chinese political propaganda poster dating from 1967, during the Cultural Revolution.

Mao Zedong is depicted at the centre, surrounded by red rays, dominating a crowd of Red Guards and young people enthusiastically brandishing the famous Little Red Book.

The large slogan “毛泽东思想万岁！” translates as “Long Live Mao Zedong Thought!”

The inscription printed at the bottom identifies the poster as issued by the Kaifeng Red Guards – “August 24” Rebellion Headquarters, 1967.

Characteristic red and black printing on paper.

Dimensions: 73.5 × 51 cm.

Good overall condition considering its age, with some natural yellowing and minor signs of age, as shown in the photographs. A striking historical and graphic document from China’s Cultural Revolution.
