BIOGRAPHY OF ALBERTO GISBERT SIURANA

He was born in Castellar-Oliveral (Valencia) on September 19, 1923. He was a pupil of the painter José Marced Furió.

He studied at the San Carlos School of Fine Arts in Valencia, from 1940 to 1944.

After leaving the School of Fine Arts, he spent several years making reproductions of masterpieces by Velázquez, Goya, Rubens, and Murillo, among others.

He also spent several years combining reproductions with painting on ceramics and painting movie theater posters.

He has carried out several restorations on religious themes, in the side domes of the Parish Church of Our Lady of Lepanto in Castellar (Valencia), as well as the creation of two murals of six square meters each on the sides of the High Altar in the same parish, and also a reproduction in the Tabernacle of the High Altar of El Salvador by Juan de Juanes, and an icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help on a side altar.

In the church of San Martín de Porres in El Oliveral (Valencia), he created a twelve-square-meter mural on a religious theme of Jesus and his apostles for the Communion Chapel, and also a six-square-meter canvas of Our Lady of the Rosary located on the right wing of the church.

Moreover, Alberto Gisbert has held numerous exhibitions of his works in illustrious art galleries in Valencia and Madrid, among others.

He has balanced his painting with work retouching photographs in charcoal in his own studio. Due to vision and back problems associated with this work, he was forced to retire from this profession, but he never abandoned painting, his true vocation. It is no coincidence that Alberto Gisbert demonstrated his passion for painting until the very moment of his disappearance at the age of 86, on July 12, 2009, when an unfinished still life remained in his studio.
