Franco Turcati - L'albero e il vulcano

The Tree and the Volcano (2007)

Far from the roar of eruptions, Etna appears here as a silent, immense presence. The hills of inland Sicily stretch like waves beneath the volcano's snow, while a solitary tree accompanies the gaze toward infinity. A photograph that captures the fragile and poetic balance between cultivated land and the eternal power of nature.
This photograph has a special merit: it doesn't merely show Etna, but places it in an agricultural context that tells the most authentic Sicily. The isolated tree in the foreground becomes almost a visual landmark that provides scale to the immensity of the landscape and the volcano.
