Description from the seller

Splendid oil painting on canvas depicting a coastal view in the north of France (Normandy). The work captures with extraordinary mastery the atmospheric light and the rendering of the sky typical of en plein air painting of the second half of the nineteenth century.
Technical and Study Details:
Style and Quality: The painting technique, characterized by vibrant, impasto-like brushwork and touches of lead white in the reflections on the water, shows an execution quality closely aligned with the greatest masters of French Pre-Impressionism.
The Signature: The work bears an period signature in the lower corner. A distinctive initial script stands out, making the painting of extreme interest to scholars, experts, and collectors of Norman coastal painting.
Support: Mounted on its original nineteenth-century wooden frame with a magnificent patina of natural oxidation. The canvas is contemporary.
The frame visible in the photo is included as a courtesy and does not constitute an integral part of the artwork. Any damage to the frame will not be a valid reason for claims or order cancellations.
