Description from the seller

Decorative white metal plate with silver plating and engraved botanical decoration. France. Late 19th century or early 20th century.

Circular plate of white-silvered metal, with wide classical-inspired vegetal decoration engraved on the rim and slightly raised center. It has two small punches on the central rear part. One of them ("d - B") seems to correspond to initials or a maker's mark.

The inscription “METAL BLANC” is consistent with the French terminology historically used for white metal objects typically plated later. There are documented French examples of white metal pieces marked with maker initials.

The combination of decoration, construction and markings reasonably places it in the French domain, probably during the second half of the 19th century or early 20th century.

Mark: “METAL BLANC” and a small maker’s punch, apparently with letters D/B or similar, not identified with certainty.
Origin: Probably France.
Technique: Worked and formed metal, with engraved/chiseled vegetal decoration.
Style: Classical / historicist, vegetal decoration.
Measurements: 16 cm in diameter.
Height: 2 cm.
Weight: 95 grams.
Condition: Overall good condition, with wear to the plating, darkened areas, superficial scratches and signs of use and age. The punches are preserved.

The photographs are part of the description.

Shipping: It is sent via InPost, UPS or Correos, depending on the destination country.
