Frédéric Samuel Cordey (1854–1911) is an impressionist painter of the first circle, close to Renoir, whose freedom of vision and luminous sensibility he shares. Trained at the Beaux-Arts, he quickly freed himself from academe to join the pioneers of the movement, exhibiting as early as 1877 alongside Monet, Sisley and Pissarro.
