This is a box/jar with a decorative lid (known as a bonbonnière or powder/jewelry box) in fine porcelain with elaborate ornamentation.

Piece Identification
Origin: Carlsbad (Karlovy Vary), Bohemia region (now Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic). The engraved mark on the bottom with the inscription "Karlsbad" confirms the provenance of this prestigious Austro-Hungarian/Bohemian porcelain production area.
Year/Period: Late 19th century to early 20th century (approximately 1890–1910), the Historicism / Fin de Siècle era.
Material: Porcelain with a magenta/claret background, hand-painted, interior coating in thick gilding (vermilion/ immersion or brush gold) and raised enamel detailing with gold leaf.

Detailed Description
Lid iconography: Features a miniature central painting with the inscription "Mühlbrunnen" (Mühlbrunnkolonnade / Colonnade of the Mill Fountain), one of the most famous and emblematic spa pavilions and colonnades in the spa town of Karlsbad.
Finish: Edge adorned with gold garlands and pearl-like reliefs (beaded trim) in enamel. The interior of the box and the lid displays an entirely gilded and highly polished finish of refined quality.
