“Blue Vase”

Blue Vase is a modern "still life" that revisits the classic theme of the still life with contemporary vigor. The artist has subverted the traditional genre by focusing not on photographic realism, but on the raw emotional interaction of complementary colors and texture. The blue vase, though titular, is the visual anchor of a scene full of life and implicit movement. The profusion of lemons, which seem to overflow the vase and occupy the foreground space, evokes abundance and vitality.

Vida AMReyes. (Granma, Cuba 1991) discovered from a very young age that drawing was not just a pastime, but a way to translate the world. In 2010, she graduated with honors from the prestigious Carlos Enrique Gómez Academy of Fine Arts. There she consolidated an exceptional technical prowess in oil painting, acrylics and life drawing, foundations that later would shape her conceptual signature.

Her early career years unfolded amid Cuban cultural effervescence, actively participating in young art salons and group exhibitions. Her work began to stand out immediately: in salons and exhibitions obtaining numerous awards and mentions.

AMReyes’s work is distinguished by a visceral and imposing realism that captures the gaze instantly. However, her proposal does not stay in mere photographic mimesis. On an anatomically worked-with rigor body or faces loaded with deep psychographic expressivity, the artist overlays and integrates icons, allegories and conceptual elements: wings that seem invisible to the bearer, suspended threads, blocks of dense color or clothing laden with symbolism. For her, the human body and the everyday figure are the perfect canvas to reflect on identity.

This fusion between technical mastery and symbolic narrative opened the way to her international projection. Over the last decade, her pieces have been acquired by private collectors and galleries in:

Currently, AMReyes resides in Spain, a country where she has established her studio and consolidated a new creative stage.
